I started sailing with my Father aged 8 in the Carrick Roads, Falmouth on a 42' Robert Clarke design, named John Dory. Lots of local cruising and racing in my teens and many trips across the channel. Plenty of sailing in my 20's, including a number of deliveries to the Med and Canary Islands. Spent a season in the West Indies in my 20's culminating in sailing the boat back to the UK. Family and work commitments took priority over sailing for many years until I purchased a Holman Sloop called Illusion of Lorne. I logged over 20000 NM on her, both racing & cruising, including competing and winning our class in the AZAB in 2007. I kept Illusion in Spain for a coupe of years and sailed her home in 2013. My most recent trip was from Mallorca to Antigua in a Oyster 56.
I sold Illusion three years ago and now own Autarky, she's not as racy but packs a punch in the right conditions!
